Christchurch –  Thousands of people came together to celebrate the bright and colourful annual Diwali Festival in Christchurch on Saturday.Almost 10,000 people attended the annual Indian festival of lights at Horncastle Arena.

Visitors got to try a taste of Indian culture, with Bollywood and music performances, Indian cuisine and Indian clothing.

After organised in its  large  community level ,10th Diwali festival, organised by Indian Social and Cultural Club  celebrated  in the capital of south Island  at Chirstchurch . The Diwali  festival  is  celebrated with all walks of Indianand Fiji Indian community with  with multiple colors of Indian culture and traditional dances and arts.

Every year  Diwali festival  become  improved its  performance and quality and  increased participation is encouraged by continuous support of   Public and Indian community in Christchurch

There were  more than20  performances demonstrating the talent of more than 100 participants with a participation of 10000 from all walks of community of Christchurch

 The Main highlight of the this year Diwali fest is  the rocking performance of Canterbury Police on a mix of Bollywood songs . The  performance  was led by Inspector Hirone Waretini, who is in-charge of Canterbury Police Maori, Pacific and Ethnic Services Group.

The continuous  cordial  participation and co-operation of   Indian community, and other public in Christchurch make us to improve better and better every year.  . Natu Rama, President of the city-based Indian Social and Cultural Club (ISCC),  said.
